Recently I have had a lot of stuff to do in final preparations for my exhibition. With it only being three days away I still have a lot of work to do.
Luckily all of garments are now complete and have been for around a week so that is the main thing out of the way. All I need to do now is finish pressing them and ensure that there are no loose bits of thread.
Last Friday was a big part of preparing for my exhibition as I had my final photoshoot with some gorgeous models (my friends) wearing my garments which I hope to blow up and have them up at my exhibition.
Look out for the photos in about 10 minutes as I am super happy with them and I really hope you like them!
Apologies
Sorry that I haven't been blogging a lot recently, I've been really busy making the final preparations on my garments for my final major project!!
I now have only 8 days left to complete all my work!!!
So scary how these past two years in my Fashion class are coming to an end but I am excited to see what great opportunities arise in the next few years when I leave to go and study Fashion Journalism.
UPDATE
As you know, my theme is Pop Art meets the 21st Century (I.e transforming Pop Art by using Pastel Colours) and I am creating a range of garments by using Screen Prints and Embroidery.
I have chosen three main designs to print with that link in with the theme and I will be printing them on:
3 Jackets
3 Tops
3 Skirts
3 Dresses
Each will be like a little collection so for example,
1 Dress, 1 Top/Skirt & 1 Jacket will all have the same design on etc...
I have also created a screen design for my bags which I will display and sell at the exhibition.
Being inspired by Pop Art & the 1960's, as part of my project I will be making a Paper Dress (Inspired by Andy Warhol's Souper Dress) but it will be in the style of Paco Rabanne's Chain Mail Dress)
Display
For my display, I will be setting it up as if it were a little shop. I will have my logo HAUS displayed on wood blocks, hanging from the ceiling and all my 9 garments and the paper dress will be displayed for the viewers to see.
I will upload pictures of before and after pictures to show the transformation of the space I have have given.
I am so excited to finally be able to show off my work!
I am now into my 10th week of doing my FMP.
Over the weeks, I have been gathering as much information as I can on designers, artists and different ways of presentation for when it comes to putting my collection on display.
My collection label is called HAUS, being inspired by Lady Gaga's "HAUS OF GAGA" (hence why my Blog, Twitter and Instagram name)
As I am going to study Fashion Journalism next year, I thought it would be a good idea to produce my own Fashion magazine to present at the final exhibition.
This will feature my full collection in digital.
At the moment, I have just finished my top block for my 60's box dress and on Monday I will start doing my toile for this.
Today I had a crit where I had to present my work to my group with feedback; this helped me gather inspiration from my class mates and find what I need to do to up my marls.
As well as that, I have been doing Pop Art Appliqué.
Images and more updates to follow!
It is still early days on my ideas for my FMP. But I think that I have everything sorted! Thank God!
My sketchbook is filled with designs and research that have inspired me to get to where my ideas are today. All that's left to do is to do a bit of designer/artist research.
All I can do now is wait until I return to class after the Summer Holidays, only two more months to go!
